Dongfang obtains type certification
DF82-1500, The Chinese company Dongfang Electric New Energy Equipment Co. Ltd. has obtained type certification for its wind turbine from the German technical inspection agency TÜV Süd. This makes Dongfang one of the first Chinese companies to obtain such a type certificate for a turbine, thus meeting an important requirement for its export. Dongfang's most important target markets include India and the Middle East.
Type certification is an internationally recognized procedure for proving that technically complex systems meet international standards. "The certification covers a review of the design, prototype testing and manufacturing inspections", said Martin Webhofer, the head of the Certification Body for Wind Turbines at TÜV Süd Industrie Service GmbH. The type certificate is recognized by many investors, operators and insurance companies as a seal of quality.
Dongfang is one of the leading Chinese wind turbine manufacturers. The DF82-1500 has a rated capacity of 1.5 MW and is designed for onshore use. "I am very pleased about the successful type certification", said Zhu Yuanchao, the Vice President of Dongfang Electric Corporation.
TÜV Süd point out that the entire type certification process for the DF82-1500 was carried out very quickly. "Fast communication and efficient project management by both TÜV Süd and Dongfang were the keys to the rapid completion of this project", emphasized Alexander Kupzok, Project Manager at TÜV Süd. In this process, the "Wind Team" of TÜV Süd China was essential as an interface. "The interaction between the competence centre in Munich and our local teams provides our clients with considerable time benefits and a competitive edge", added Webhofer. "After all, time-to-market is critical for business success in growth industries, including wind power."
