Late Monday evening, EU Energy Ministers have adopted their positions on four legislative proposals under the Clean Energy Package, which will guide the EU’s energy transition in the coming decade and beyond. Turning their backs on the Paris Agreement, the ministers opted for a feeble renewable energy target, lax rules for ensuring that all EU countries contribute to the energy transition and massive coal subsidies in the EU’s power market.

First Solar will supply more than 860,000 high-performance thin film modules to power a 100 MW utility-scale photovoltaic solar power plant developed by Zorlu Enerji in Pakistan. It will be the first utility-scale solar project in Pakistan to be powered by First Solar. The Independent Power Producer (IPP) facility, part of the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in the country’s Punjab province, is expected to be completed and connected to the electricity grid by the first half of 2018.

Stiftelsen Det Norske Veritas (The Foundation) and Mayfair announce the sale of Mayfair’s 36.5% shares in DNV GL Group AS to DNV Holding AS. The agreement regarding the leading quality assurance and risk management company DNV GL was signed on 8 December 2017.

As of January 1, 2018, the Photovoltaik-Institut Berlin (PI Berlin) will acquire 100 percent of the shares in the US company SolarBuyer. SolarBuyer is a leading provider of risk management and quality assurance services for buyers and investors in the solar industry. As a specialist in ensuring the manufacturing quality of solar modules and inverters, SolarBuyer has conducted more than 230 factory audits covering more than 62 GW of production capacity.
