OPES Solutions: Module certificates ensure off-grid quality

14.12.2017

OPES Solutions, a leading supplier of off-grid solar modules for grid independent power supply, relies on certified products for reliable solar applications. To this end, the company has had its off-grid solar modules with outputs of 0.9 watts and above with mono- and polycrystalline solar cells certified by TÜV Nord in accordance with the IEC 61215 and 61730 standards. Especially for solar home system providers, the use of IEC 61215-tested modules facilitates quality certification for the World Bank's Lighting Global platform. OPES Solutions is the first company to receive the IEC certification for off-grid modules in this range.

Robert Händel, co-founder and CEO of OPES Solutions: "In the case of solar power plants and solar systems for private homes, the quality discussion has been intensively conducted for years. While certification according to IEC 61215 and 61730 has become standard for On-Grid solar modules, it is still the exception for Off-Grid modules. The market for off-grid applications is comparatively young, but has enormous growth potential. We are convinced that high demands on module quality will become more and more important with increasing competition".

OPES Solutions has received certification for its off-grid module series O-Eazy, O-Pico and O-Home, which together cover a power range from 0.9 watts to 270 watts. Their different sizes and frame designs make them suitable for rural electrification with Pay-as-You-Go or Pico solar systems, as well as for innovative applications such as solar street lighting or parking meters. The optional, patented Z-frame offers advantages such as additional efficiency, reduced soiling and simplified installation.

IEC standard 61215 comprises various tests that simulate the aging of crystalline PV modules and considers the stresses caused by climate, sunlight and mechanical stress such as snow and hail. IEC 61730 is intended to ensure that modules are electrically and mechanically safe over their entire service life. OPES Solutions is also ISO 9001,14001 and 18001 certified as a company for quality, environmental and occupational safety management.
