UK's Solar Trade Association and RenewableUK to share offices

Great Britain’s Solar Trade Association has signed an agreement to lease part of RenewableUK’s offices. The move has practical benefits for both separate organisations and their different memberships. But it is also hoped that the creation of this “renewables hub” in London will foster a healthy exchange of ideas on the key strategic issues that are facing the energy sector as a whole, and the renewables industry in particular.

Irina Lucke is the first woman to be elected as chair of WAB. The previous chair, Dr Klaus Meier, will be stepping down to the position of deputy chairman. WAB's focus in 2017 will be to provide even more information about political developments to members and promote networking.

KfW is funding a wind farm in Egypt

Together with other partners, the KfW bank is funding a wind farm in the coastal region of the Red Sea. The parties involved have signed a corresponding financing agreement. The Gulf of Suez wind farm will have a total capacity of 200 to 250 MW.

Senvion starts operation of biggest First Nations windfarm

Senvion announced that on 2th December wind turbines at the 150 MW Mesgi'g Ugju's'n windfarm in Quebec started spinning. It is the biggest First Nations windfarm in Canada. The project is an equal partnership between Innergex and the three Mi'gmaq communities located on the territory of Gespe'gewa'gi: Gesgapegiag, Gespeg and Listuguj.

Aquila Capital acquires 65 MW wind project in Sweden

Aquila Capital has acquired another wind project in Sweden. The windfarm will consist of 18 Vestas V126-3.6 MW turbines. The project was developed turnkey by OX2, one of the largest wind developers in Sweden.

Vattenfall to proceed with Danish near shore wind farms

A majority in the Danish Parliament (Folketing) on November, 18th that it will approve Danish Near Shore (DNS) wind farms. This means that Vattenfall can proceed with plans to develop the 350 MW project off Denmark's west coast.
