Senvion to to reduce workforce by 780

Senvion has announced the reduction of an estimated 780 jobs, mainly at Senvion's facilities in Husum, Trampe and Bremerhaven in Germany as part of an “extensive program” to secure competiveness. The company will meet with employees' representatives as soon as possible to begin the negotiations.

Siemens Wind Power is collaborating with US­based company SkySpecs to deploy automated drone technology for onshore and offshore wind turbine inspections. The goal of the collaboration is to develop a push­button inspection system that is faster, repeatable and more efficient than existing methods.

Rhenus Offshore Logistics secures UK offshore supply base partnership

Rhenus Offshore Logistics is starting up its operation of two new offshore supply bases at the ports of Great Yarmouth and Aberdeen. The new sites are maintained through cooperation with local partners and realised through the recently opened UK office of Rhenus Offshore Logistics.

With some 8.7 GW of onshore turbines installed in 2016, Vestas has reclaimed the top spot in the annual ranking of wind turbine manufacturers. GE is placed second in the global ranking with Goldwind close behind. Installation of offshore wind turbines was led by Sewind and Siemens.

German offshore wind farm Hohe See is on its way

Siemens will provide the complete offshore wind power plat solutions for the Hohe See offshore wind project 90 km north of the German island Borkum. The inter-array cabling contract with a value of approximately € 80 million has been awarded to VBMS.
