ABB’s microgrid to power Aruba

The island of Aruba plans to cover half its annual energy need using renewable energy sources and the other half using alternative fuels by 2020. To achieve this goal, they trust on an advanced microgrid solution, provided by ABB. The system will will help WEB Aruba, the islands main power utility, integrate solar and wind energy, forecast and plan better and optimize operations in real-time.

QOS Energy, a provider of renewable O&M analytics software, has completed the delivery of an Energy Management System to SunHydrO, a combined renewable energy and storage R&D project led by French aggregator Sun’R Smart Energy. The SunHydrO project aims to foster the grid integration of variable renewable energy sources with the added flexibility offered by pumped hydro storage units.

Ingeteam Service continues its international expansion

Ingeteam has announced the opening of a new subsidiary in Honduras and of another one in Bulgaria. The global presence of the company thereby increases to a total of 22 countries, according to Ingeteam.

U.S. Solar Market Adds 2 GW of PV in Q1 2017

Following rapid growth across the industry in 2016, the United States solar market added 2,044 megawatts of new capacity in the first quarter of 2017. As installations grow, prices continue to fall to new lows, with utility-scale system prices dropping below the $1 per watt barrier for the first time, according to GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association’s (SEIA) latest U.S. Solar Market Insight Report.

IBC SOLAR completes two additional projects in Japan

IBC SOLAR Energy, the International Project Development division of IBC SOLAR AG has announced the grid connection of two solar projects in Japan. The solar parks with a capacity of 3.5 MW were installed in the prefectures of Saitama and Ibaraki.

The winners of ees AWARD 2017 have been chosen

For the fourth time running, the panel of judges presented the ees AWARD to the most innovative concepts and solutions from the energy storage industry on the basis of criteria such as the level of innovation and economic viability.
