NREC National Renewable Energy Convention / Bangalore (India)

NREC 2017 aims to promote the implementation and usage of renewable energy in local region and beyond.

Electricity is critical to fuel the economic growth of India. The country is on the fast trajectory of development but to keep the momentum of growth high, availability of uninterrupted power supply is a must. India needs electricity to fuel the growth of every industry, be it large-scale or small-scale, manufacturing, healthcare or education.

India’s latest electricity-sector report offers some striking insights into momentum around the country’s electricity-sector transformation. Thermal power plant utilization rates have collapsed to below 50 percent, the growth rate in new builds has halved, and renewable power generation is up 26 percent year on year, gaining six times faster than conventional power generation growth (4.5% year on year). India is aiming for 22 gigawatts per annum of renewable energy installs by 2019, up from 16 giga watts this year.
