Eltek Valere Awarded Contract To Power Industrial Systems on Major European Wind Farm

Drammen - Eltek Valere, the world leader in high efficiency power systems, today announced that it has received an order to supply 30 DC industrial power systems to a major European offshore wind farm located in the North Sea.

Each windmill installation will have both a 24V and 48V DC power system and auxiliary system to power emergency lighting and emergency escape route lighting systems, the cathodic corrosion protection system, the loading crane on the maintenance platform and the radar container. The Eltek Valere power systems were chosen because they offer the industry's highest performance and reliability for harsh conditions.

Eltek Valere has a long history in supplying power solutions for control of power generation, transmission and distribution equipment, including renewable energy. The company's Industrial Power Division is an important and fast-growing segment for the company.

"This contract represents a significant milestone for Eltek Valere's industrial power," said Lars Dousa, Eltek Valere's executive vice president responsible for industrial power. "Power utilities is a key market for us and renewable energy is an important part of our overall mission to focus on technology for a greener future."

"This project will be an important reference for future wind farms," Dousa continued. "Around the world there are many wind farm projects, both onshore and offshore, that will require sophisticated and highly reliable power solutions. We have the products, the expertise and the global network to support those requirements.

Slowly but surely the floating offshore wind energy sector is becoming more and more important, particularly because of the fact that the number of locations with shallow waters suitable for fixed-bottom foundations is limited. Floating wind is turning into a highly scalable future energy source because the wind resource in deep waters is extensive and offers a significant potential for marine renewable energy development and growth to many countries.
