Fully automated module plant with 1.5 GW capacity in China

The solar component manufacturer JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. has opened a further fully automated solar module factory in Xingtai, Hebei province, China. The plant has an annual production capacity of 1.5 GW.

The factory has fully automated production lines on which PV modules with 60 and 72 cells can be produced. JA Solar is mainly using its Percium cells. The factory uses computerised manufacturing equipment that can change the soldering configuration for the modules between four and five busbars of cell contact patterns. In addition, single and double glass modules can also be produced on the conveyor lines.

The new plant is located in the Xingtai Economic Development District and achieves an annual per capita module production of 2 MW capacity, thanks to the automation.

In order to save as much energy as possible, all functional areas such as the production hall, the testing and measuring stations, the storage rooms and the warehouse are accommodated in one building at the factory.

"The grand opening of our fully automated module plant in Xingtai represents a step toward intelligent production for JA Solar. We will continue to focus on technological innovation and improve the performance of our products to meet the demand for quality products", said Baofang Jin, CEO of JA Solar
