PPG wins GL certification for high-modulus glass composition fibers

Pittsburgh - PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) fiber glass business has received certification from Germanischer Lloyd (GL), a leading international certification body in the wind energy industry, of HYBON(R) 2002 XM and HYBON(R) 2026 XM fiber glass roving products.

New KK-Electronic investment in Szczecin, Poland

New nacelle-mounted Lidar power curve measurement procedure developed and demonstrated after 3 years project

The project has been conducted by a consortium made of DTU Wind Energy (formerly Risø Wind Energy Department), DONG Energy, Siemens Wind Power and Avent Lidar Technology, and funded by the Danish Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP). The procedure provides the basis for a new, industry-wide best-practice for performance verification with nacelle LIDARs.

Global Wind Day urges G8 leaders to stop subsidising fossil fuels and switch to renewables

Global Wind Day, celebrated annually on 15 June, enables citizens to discover wind energy across the world. This year an online action has been launched to put pressure on world leaders, ahead of the G8 summit on 17-18 June to keep their commitment to phase out fossil fuels and switch to renewable energy.

Markus Tacke new CEO of Siemens Wind Energy

Effective 1 August, Markus Tacke (48) will assume the responsibilities of CEO of the Wind Energy Division at Siemens. He will replace Felix Ferlemann (53), who will be leaving the company "by mutual consent", states Siemens in a press release.

Vattenfall commissions 122 MW wind farm in the Netherlands

Vattenfall officially commissioned the Zuidlob wind farm on 11 September. The wind farm consists of 36 wind turbines with a total capacity of 122 MW. It is one of the largest onshore wind farms in the Netherlands and, at the same time, the largest onshore wind farm that Vattenfall has ever built. The investment volume is approximately € 150 million.

Germany addresses offshore liability

At its 29 August cabinet meeting, the German federal government established a compensation scheme for delayed offshore wind farm grid connections and introduced a binding offshore grid integration plan.

Cuxhaven opens new offshore terminal

On October 14th, Lower Saxony's Minister-President David McAllister opened the second offshore port terminal in Cuxhaven, northern Germany. With a construction period of two years and an investment volume of € 65 m, two additional berths were built on an area of around twelve hectares.
