What is going to happen to Adwen? The offshore specialist company is getting in the way of Siemens' and Gamesa's merger plans. GE has now expressed interest in the joint venture between Gamesa and Areva.


Transformer platform for offshore wind farm Sandbank goes to sea

After approximately 16 months of construction work, the transformer substation for the offshore wind farm Sandbank is now on its way to the construction site 90 kilometres west of Sylt in the German North Sea.


GE reaches 50 GW of global wind installations

The international corporation GE announced that it has installed more than 30,000 onshore wind turbines in over 35 countries with a total capacity of 50 GW.


Siemens receives biggest offshore order so far

Siemens will deliver 102 wind energy plants of the type SWT-7.0-154 for the offshore wind farm East Anglia One. This order by ScottishPower Renewables, a subsidy of Iberdrola S.A., has a volume of 714 MW and is the company’s biggest order so far, when it comes to capacity.

Siemens will deliver 60 direct-drive offshore wind turbines for the Arkona wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. To install the turbines E.ON has chosen Danish A2SEA and its specially designed vessel Sea Challenger.

New LEDs make obstruction lights safer

It may sound like a bad joke, but the night vision goggles used by the pilots of rescue helicopters to detect obstacles in the dark can suppress the red light emitted by conventional LED obstruction lighting. A British LED manufacturer has now introduced an alternative that ensures that pilots can see wind turbines in the dark while wearing night vision goggles.


Foundations for Nordsee One offshore wind farm completed

The last foundation for the Nordsee One offshore wind farm is completed and all 54 monopole foundations have been fitted with the associated transition pieces for the installation of the tower segments.


40 MW wind energy orders for Nordex in Turkey

In the first quarter of 2016 wind turbine manufacturer Nordex received three new orders for wind energy plants in Turkey. For the projects the company will deliver 18 turbines with a total capacity of more than 40 MW to different regions of the country.
