ExxonMobil Delivers Advanced Protection and Efficiency to 40,000 Wind Turbines

Chennai – ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties announced today that its flagship Mobilgear SHC XMP 320 high performance gear oil is now being used to protect more than 40,000 wind turbine gearboxes worldwide. This significant milestone demonstrates how advanced industrial lubricants are helping the wind energy industry become more cost competitive worldwide.

Series damage insurance for offshore wind energy facilities placed

The insurance broker Nordwest Assekuranzmakler GmbH & Co. KG (NWA) has developed a series damage insurance policy for offshore wind turbines, together with the wind turbine manufacturer REpower Systems SE. The have worked together on this insurance coverage for two years. The contracts have now been signed with the insurer Munich RE.

US wind farm Flat Ridge 2 in full operation

European Union cumulative installed wind power capacity exceeds 100 GW in 2012

Gamesa advances offshore project


Gamesa transported the first rotor blade for the prototype of its offshore wind turbine from Aoiz factory (Navarre) to the port of Bilbao. The 62.5 m long blade is designed for the 5 MW wind turbine which Gamesa will build at Arinaga quay on Gran Canary.

WindMade launches public consultation on Product Standard

WindMade, the first global consumer label for companies using wind energy, launched the proposed WindMade Standard for Products and Services, setting out the technical requirements for the label to be used on individual products. This draft will now enter a one-month public consultation period.

New nacelle-mounted Lidar power curve measurement procedure developed and demonstrated after 3 years project

The project has been conducted by a consortium made of DTU Wind Energy (formerly Risø Wind Energy Department), DONG Energy, Siemens Wind Power and Avent Lidar Technology, and funded by the Danish Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP). The procedure provides the basis for a new, industry-wide best-practice for performance verification with nacelle LIDARs.
