DNV signs contract to certify offshore transformer station

DolWin beta is a transformer station operated by TenneT, one of Europe's largest grid operators. DolWin beta will be built as part of a large offshore wind farm cluster in the German sector, approximately 45 km off the German coast in the North Sea. It will receive alternating current from wind farms and convert it into direct current before transmission via subsea cables.

GL Garrad Hassan Caters for Wind in Pakistan

Hamburg - Recent studies conducted by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratories have shown that the coastal belt of Pakistan features a wind corridor with an exploitable wind power potential of up to 50,000 MW. To date the Government of Pakistan has awarded letters of intent to 35 wind power projects with a total capacity of more than 1,500 MW.

Gamesa agrees to sell two wind farms in Spain to gas natural

Bilbao / Madrid - Gamesa has reached an agrement with Gas Natural to sell two wind farms in Lugo and Tarragona, with combined capacity totalling 42 MW.

The Alto do Seixal (30 MW) wind farm near Lugo -which has been sold today- consists of six Gamesa G80-2.0 MW turbines and nine G87-2.0 MW turbines. The wind farm is in operation.

Gamesa to deliver another 50 MW of its G97-2.0 MW turbines to China Longyuan

Beijing - Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has signed a deal to supply an additional 50 MW of capacity -its G97-2.0 MW wind turbine- to Chinese company Longyuan for a wind farm the power company will build in Ningxia. Gamesa expects these additional 50 MW to be installed in June 2012.

REpower and EDF Energies Nouvelles US subsidiary sign contract for 50 megawatts

Hamburg / Denver - REpower Systems SE has concluded a contract for the delivery of 25 wind turbines of the MM92 type with US developer enXco - an EDF Energies Nouvelles company. These turbines will supplement a previous order from enXco to supply the full capacity of the 102.5 MW Shiloh IV wind project located in Solano County, California.

Applications open for course of studies in offshore wind

Applications for the Continuing Studies Programme Offshore Wind Energy opened on 1st February. All application documents must be submitted to the ForWind Centre for Wind Energy Research at the University of Oldenburg in Germany by 30th June 2012. The first academic class of the internationally oriented course will start in October 2012 with 24 participants.

WinWinD tests new Brevini gearbox

The prototype is currently being tested in a system made by the finish turbine manufacturer WinWinD, which is also planning a serial production run.
